Thank you for helping keep Camp Dean a clean and desirable place to go camping.
The following are the seven Leave No Trace Principles and how they relate to Camp Dean.
Plan ahead and prepare.
- Plan your meals so that you use a minimal amount of non-recyclable materials or have a minimal amount of left-overs.
- Plan your meals and activities around using a minimal amount of fuel and materials.
Travel and camp on durable surfaces.
- Stay on the trails.
- If you are setting up primitive tents, do so in established campsites.
Dispose of waste properly.
- Do not dump your waste water in the woods.
- Pour down the drains or down the toilets.
- Make sure that items that do not belong in the composting latrines or septic systems do not end up there. The composting latrines can NOT take any cleaning solutions.
- Bag all garbage and take recyclables home.
Leave what you find.
- Do not pick the flowers.
- Return any collected items back to where they were found.
Minimize campfire impact.
- Build a fire only in established campfire rings.
- Do not overbuild your fire.
- Use as little wood as you need.
Respect wildlife.
- Do not feed the animals.
- Do not tease the animals.
- Brush the spiders outside the cabin or tent instead of killing them.
Be considerate of other visitors.
- Do not enter campsites without permission.
- Do not litter or leave behind items that "may be of use" to the next group if you don’t want them.
- Do not be loud after dark or early in the morning.
