GIRL SCOUTS- FOX VALLEY COUNCIL

GUIDING LIGHT OF THE PROMISE

Here you see the thirteen candles that represent the Promise

and the Law of Girl Scouting. The light from each of these candles shines to give meaning and purpose to this code by which we try to live.

The three large candles represent the three parts of the Promise:

"On my honor, I will try To serve God and my country;"

The Constitution of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America begins…"We, the members of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, united by a belief in God and by acceptance of the Girl Scout Promise and Law,.…"

LET THIS LIGHT SHINE AS A SYMBOL THAT GIRL SCOUTS

ARE TRUE TO GOD AND COUNTRY.

"To help people at all times,"

The idea of helping others is a part of everything Girl Scouts do.

LET THIS LIGHT SHINE AS A SYMBOL THAT A GIRL SCOUT’S

GREATEST DESIRE IS TO HELP PEOPLE.

"And to live by the Girl Scout Law."

The law is the guidepost by which the aims of the Promise become a part of our lives every day.

LET THIS LIGHT OF THE THIRD CANDLE SHINE AS A SYMBOL THAT GIRL SCOUTS ARE TRUE TO THEIR IDEALS AND THEIR PROMISE AS INTERPRETED BY THE GIRL SCOUT LAW.
